Zoom Book Development Workshop – 1 day intensive

LACP book workshop promo photo

Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP) has just announced my one-day (teleconferencing) book development workshop on Saturday, July 18th, from 9am – 4pm (PST). Included is a small break for lunch, which we will do using Zoom.

A photographic book (or artist book) is a both a physical object as well as a creative medium to extend a photographic vision by expressing it in a unique and personal narrative. A book, which has been stated many times before, is a wonderful opportunity to have a gallery without walls and reach a much larger community with a photographic body of work. One of the key aspects of this workshop will be spending time on is discussing the essentials of editing a large body of work to distill a vision into a more cohesive sequence to create a personal narrative.

There is also a group critique planned for each individuals project that they anticipate publishing.

This is going to be an intensive day for the small group and a bit unusual in how to convey the various aspects of developing an artist/photo book from a remote location.

It is going to be fun getting into the nuances of book publishing with this group and have a chance to see the interesting projects that every one has in progress. Also note, since this workshop presentation is new to me, and I want to make sure we get this right, we are restricting the attendance to only 10 individuals. So a really limited group and if you are interested, I recommend signing up sooner than later.

Cheers & stay safe,

Douglas Stockdale
