...I have still been thinking about the difference between a photography which "shows" something versus which "suggestions" something. I know that my series Bad Trip - Sad Trip started with me wanting to show something. Thus the images were more documenatry or journalist; here is what I saw. So were the titles. Over the last year, the series... Continue Reading →
Santa Rosa Plateau Memorial
Separation, copyright 2007 Douglas Stockdale ...Last week was an interesting series of events when I became aware of two new road side memorials. I posted about one yesterday, and I found my self working on the new stuff again, so I am able to discuss this image. Yesterday, I started a dialog about how I choose... Continue Reading →
Santa Suzanna
Santa Suzanna, copyright 2007 Douglas Stockdale ...always a tough decision, work on the new stuff that is fresh and exciting, or get the back-up, web-hosting and filing completed for the earlier images. Okay, so this time the winner is the images that I made a couple of days ago on the Santa Suzanna Pass Road... Continue Reading →
Insomnia: Hotel Noir
Meditation Annex, copyright 2007 Douglas Stockdale ....While preparing my othe blog entry about ArtBiz101, I realize it would be good to have a "relevent" image. I take a local toll road for... Continue Reading →
Memorial Day
Roadside Gully, Nevada copyright 2007 Douglas Stockdale It is Memorial Day here in the U.S., a day we set aside to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in what they believed in. Traditionally this day is about those who perished in war and in many ways, about those who survived the war to come back another... Continue Reading →
Bad Trip – Sad Trip, Take 2
Fading Memories After a lot of consideration, I have decided to eliminate the diffusion effects from images of the Bad Trip - Sad Trip series. The final catalyst for the decision came as a result of the drive-by image for the Presistent LA memorial. What I now understand is the emotional effect that these road side memorials...
