
Douglas Stockdale is a multi-media visual artist, artist coach, dad, science-geek, book-nerd, the Senior Editor (founder) of Photobook Journal, the contemporary photobook magazine, Publisher of Singular Images Press, Senior Editor (founder) of PhotoExchange, an art/photo-blog, and on the Adjunct Faculty of Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP), Medium Photo (San Diego, CA), Southeast Center for Photography (SEC4P) and a special guest workshop instructor for Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC). Concurrently he is a senior scientist for a pharmaceutical company working on a therapeutic for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).
Singular Images is his personal art-blog where he shares his thoughts about art, photography and personal artistic series that visually explore aspects of family, culture, memory, science and aging. His art and book-work can be found on his website www.douglasstockdale.com
Singular Images Press is publishing Stockdale’s The Flow of Light Brushes the Shadow, for release in Fall 2022. This artist book is his long term project investigating his our anxiety before being diagnosed with this condition during COVID (2021), which is meant to increase awareness in Mental Health conditions. His photobook and art workshops are available thru LACP, Medium Photo, SECP and CPAC and he provides photographic/artist portfolio reviews at LACP’s annual Exposures Weekend event each year as well as an artist/book coach. Stockdale works with artist, photographers and organization regarding the development of artistic/photographic projects assisting with the design, editing, sequencing, layout, project development and marketing of artist/photographic books and artistic projects.
His photographs and books are in the permanent collections at Frick Fine Arts Library, University of Pittsburgh, PA; Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma (MACRO), Rome, Italy; Reminders Photography Stronghold, (RPS) Tokyo, Japan; Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University, Boston, MA; Franklin Furnace Archive, Brooklyn, NY and the School of Visual Arts Library (SVA), NYC, NY.
