Shanghai Underpass Peddlers

Interesting when a number of unrelated things come together at bout the same time. I just found out that I will probably be heading back again for another two week project in China at the end of September. Which has me thinking about what it is that I want to work on in terms of a potential series, so I started going back through my earlier images.

Then of course the email from Georgete’s inquiry about the lack of human elements usually in my images. Looking at my China images, hard to take a picture there without someone being in it! But I had kept coming back to this image that I made on the fly while walking with our group. A long time ago I had worked out the technique of walking and looking in one direction while holding the camera purpendicualar and level with the 28mm (equivalent) lens to take the image I was interested in. Does not always turn out, but in this case, it did.

Then I received a nice comment from a Monteral photographer (blog; Walking Turcot Yards) , who seems to like to take and enjoy images from bridges and underpasses and such.

That convergence of thoughts and information indicated that I better had blog this image. And who knows what will happen from here, but perhaps this will help jell my thougths about what I will do back in Shanghai,
