“Walkway IV” from the series Places Amongst Us, Tijeras Creek, copyright of Douglas Stockdale
a SoFoBoMo 2008 production
I am still plodding along. The picture taking part is done, or as much done as I feel warrented at the moment. Now into some serious picture tweaking, with a lot of time in dust removal from the film scanning process. I have not been happy with the dust removing software, as does not eliminate all dust and makes decisions on what might be dust, thus I spend too much time correcting what the time saving software is trying to help me do. Maybe I am too old school and have spend too much time spotting black & white silver gelatin prints and have become very fussy over proper dust elimination.
Nevertheless, I am concerned about the end of the month deadline that appears that I am not going to make. First, I will continue to press on, as I am not about to give up with 10 days left. Second, I am concerned about the final result. I do not want to end up with a half-ass mess that will take me just as long to make presentable. Already I have had to compromise and half of the book is film and half is digital. I do not want to rush a process that I enjoy and want to feel content about just to make this time frame goal.
At this point, if this book is not to my liking at the end of the month and needs some more to do to it to make right the first time, then I will go for the consolation prize, a non-SoFoMoBo book. The good take-away is that it energized me to work on a latent project that I have been allowing to stay in a holding pattern until I finished some other projects. And it provided the inspiration to get my earlier work, In Passing to a first proof printing of the softbound version. And to figure out my Limited Edition book strategy. Not too bad for a potential near miss.
Okay, enough whinning about what might not happen and get back to making it happen;- )
Best regards, Doug

keep on slogging
Yes I shall!
You have already succeeded in the elements of the exercise that matter the most. You can just keep plugging along on this stage and, ultimately, your SoFoBoMo book will be only a bonus in terms of accomplishments.
Thanks, I was thinking that too;- )
