December, Fiuggi, Italy copyright 2009 Douglas Stockdale –
A hilltop comune (town) in the province of Frosinone in the region of Lazio (Ciociaria) in central Italy that dates back before 1200, which is located south of Rome. The town of Fiuggi became famous for its Acqua di Fiuggi which flows from its natural springs and mountains. The water has been used in Italy since as early as the 14th century and is famous for its purported healing properties. The hilltop region of Fiuggi, the subject in my photograph above, is known locally as Fiuggi Città.
I spent approximately two plus years sporadically visiting Fiuggi while on assignment, which eventually led to the publishing of my photographic book Ciociaria by Edizioni Puntum (Rome) in 2011.
Ciao!
Douglas
