Santa Rosa Plateau

…As a business person, I have always believed that networking was good. You can never can tell what can come from a contact and a friendly conversation. So I have carried networking over to my artistic development, that if a person expresses an interest in my images, I take the time to discuss what is I do and a little about why I create the images that I like.

At a new client’s and at a new location in Southern California, networking and local knowledge has paid off off again. We had been talking about what we did over the weekend and I mentioned my exhibit opening. After looking at a small print of Tired Bones, Jan stated that I would probably like an area that she volunteers at, the Santa Rosa Plateau, a nature reserve. After a quick Google, I found that there was also a the vernal pool that had shrimp faires. Shrimp Frires, Wow, I gotta go there!

So I set the alarm for O-dark early and arrived at the Santa Rosa Plateau at 6am, in time for sunrise. I was rewarded with a rising mist among the oaks. It was great! With a ton of images already to work on, now I have an extra ton of images. So to make things worse (Yeah!), I am setting my clock again for O-dark early and hope to arrive at 6am again, for what ever greets me.

Oh, the shirmp faires are only in the veneral pool when we have rain in Southern California, of which we had very little and there is no pool at this time. Drat, but I knew that, so my expectations were in order. But shrimp faires, they sound soooo cool. Maybe I could find a model, add some creative costuming and create my own? hmmmm, that would be a new creative stretch for me!

Best regards, Doug
