Honored with a feature on Dodho for my Memory Pods series yesterday; a project that I had initiated over ten years ago when I was contemplating how I could metaphorically relate memory loss due to Alzheimer’s Disease with the flowering phases of an Aloe Vera plant.
To be honest, this wonderful opportunity came about when the editor of Dodho found my Memory Pods project on my website and asked me to make a formal submission. No idea of what led them to my site, while I am not complaining.
Interestingly, I have been thinking about this series again, which I have experimented with a couple of different printing processes, including gel printing with intaglio inks and negative color (color reversal), over the past couple of years, although during COVID, my little potted plants were a convenient subject being located on my back patio.
I am letting this series ‘simmer’ a little bit more while finishing up my Entanglement series. I am going to make one more run at the Photolucida Critical Mass with my latest series of Entanglement cyanotype prints that I have hand-weaved and hand-stitched and I hope that this year, unlike 2023 and 2024, I will push past being a top-200 Finalist. More about that later.
Nevertheless, this feature on Dodho is a great validation of my on-going work on this Memory Pod series.
