VoyageLA shoutout: me!

Support (Memory Pods) Douglas Stockdale copyright 2020

I have very honored to be again featured by VoyageLA today in their Work-Life Balance section! Very cool!

I really like their article head-line; Meet Douglas Stockdale, Artist, educator, editor, science-nerd & book-geek. Yep, that’s all me. And yes, a little about how I try to balance work and life. Which is a constant challenge and can be a really balancing act. I don’t think the COVID pandemic has made this much easier, just working on this while still at home.

They asked me to describe a go-to place and since I live outside of LA in south Orange County, I provided some local knowledge about a laid-back beach community; San Clemente. Since I have family living in San Clemente and we are in the area frequently, I have come to know this area pretty well. This includes local knowledge on some good places to eat and hang-out. From mr. obvious; the beach and pier is a good place to begin with! LoL.

A wonder aspect of this article was the opportunity to provide some shout-outs of my own, which I started with my publishing team at PhotoBook Journal, that includes our many book reviewers, resource managers, copy and text editors, layout and design artists and digital back office; Gerry Clausing, Paul Anderson, Debe Arlook, Melanie Chapman, Alaina Dall, Kristine Dittrich, Deborah Davis, Madhu John, Steve Harp, Wayne Swanson, Rudy Vega and Jonas Yip. Without this team, this virtual magazine probably would not have the global impact that it does.

I also provided a shout-out to Chris Davies at Fabrik Projects (Los Angeles) and Donna Cosentino, Executive Director of the Photographer’s Eye Gallery in Escondido, where I will be exhibiting my Memory Pods in February (details below). The artwork I featured in this interview is from the same Memory Pods series and many of these images will be exhibited in February. Hopefully we will have an exhibition opening of some kind in late February, but Southern California is not doing very well with the pandemic and I am afraid things will not get any better due to holidays events.

Thus, I for this article I thought that my artwork titled Support would be an appropriate image to share that was synergetic with the concept of having a work-life balance and how we need to support each other.

Cheers!

Doug
