Cyanotype weave and fractured narratives

Untitled (Entanglement series No. 0455-2) copyright 2024 Douglas Stockdale –

One aspect of 2024 that I had not anticipated was pushing the creative envelop for my cyanotype prints and Entanglement series. Case in point, today I weaved together two cyanotype prints, same image, to create a mosaic image. While following the Alt Photo and Cyanotype groups on Facebook, when some artists posted their print weaves last year I was a bit smitten with the visual effects. For me, it’s about creating a complex and fractured narrative.

Btw, this is my first attempt at implement this process, so its a bit rough around the edges, but at this point, I find that aspect intriguing and adds to the mystery. Interesting project for a rainy Sunday afternoon.

I like the visual results enough that I will probably try this again. One other option I may also experiment with is to hand sew the resulting mosaic combination.

Untitled (Entanglement series, No. 0455-2), weaving of two classic cyanotype prints, 9 x 9″ image on 11 x 14″ sheet of Revere Platinum archival cotton rag. Unique print.
