This is another early morning photograph I made in Santa Ana last month when I was called into jury duty at the Orange County Superior court. Similar to the other photographs I made on this overcast morning (here), the whole idea of determining someone’s fate, perhaps leading to incarceration, must have been lurking in the back of my mind based on the photographs I made that day.
Granted, this small cinder block building is meant to only sell tickets to the college football games, but this place has an eerie claustrophobic undertone to it. For me, many aspects of this image investigate might what being incarcerated would feel like.
Cheers!
