Delightful news! Two of my seascape cyanotypes were accepted into Light Art Space’s exhibition “H2O: Shifting Currents” which was juried by Kristen Martinicic.

Backstory: we were in Bandon Oregon last fall for my son’s destination wedding. The weather was intermittent foggy, typical for this part of the Oregon coast during this time of year, which provided the moody atmosphere for my Bandon Harbor urban landscape image. This is the old harbor area with the remnants of the pier becoming evident during the low tide.

We had a rental home on the bluffs overlooking the ocean and I was able to see tantalizing sea kelp compositions on the beach when these had washed ashore, with this being one, which I framed with the sea stacks in the horizon. The ocean that day was just turbulent enough to create some visual separation between the two points of interest while providing some intriguing lines and shapes.

I believe that the Prussian blue resulting from the cyanotype printing process complements both of these seascapes compositions.

The exhibition at the Light Art Space gallery in Silver City, NM, is October 5th – Nov 4th, with the Reception Oct 6th, 5-7pm.

Make every day an Earth Day

Footnote: This is my second exhibition at Light Art Space, both occasions for my cyanotype prints, and my third alternative photography exhibition that I am participating in this year. That on top of being a Finalist for Critical Mass 2023 with my cyanotype prints. Some very nice validation for my recent focus on alternative photography and cyanotype printing.
