Entanglement, number 1766-4, copyright 2024 Douglas Stockdale –
Towards the end of last year, I was trading emails with another alt-photo artist about my Photolucida Critical Mass 2023 and 2024 Finalist recognition. She had mentioned that she had four Critical Mass Finalist awards, while nothing higher (e.g. Top 50) seemed to occur for her, thus she was no longer entering this competition. She also stated that she was an “exhibiting photographer”, which was a term that I was less familiar with.
Being intrigued in that description, I did a quick check on line, which states that an exhibiting (artist) is “one is who’s work is displayed to the public in an exhibition, which can be a formal art show, a temporary display, or a permanent collection. Exhibiting artists provide an opportunity for their work to be seen, discussed, and potentially sold.”
Cool! I liked that explanation, which I think can be equally applied to me as an exhibiting artist due to my recent exhibitions and being featured in various publications, both in print and virtually, creating opportunities in which my artwork could be seen and discussed with the emphasis on artwork that could ‘potentially sold’. LoL
