Another course correction.
When I was about to self-publish my artist book ‘The Flow of Light Brushes the Shadow‘ in 2022 before my two surgeries, I had this ‘brilliant’ idea that having self-published five other books, I ought to be publishing my latest artist book under my own imprint. Thus, Singular Images Press was born, thinking that I had already created a little bit of a presence with this blog’s name. And to promote my ‘new’ venture and the related books I intended to publish, I needed some social media channels, thus my IG page. Except Mother Nature had other plans when my book launch and really anything related to photobooks came to a halt by late 2022. sigh.
Nevertheless, I had launched this new IG page and was providing some updates on the book’s printing, pre-launch fund-raising, creating a limited edition book, sales to some public and museum book collections and eventually the commercial launch. Which all came to a stop in November 2022 with the first of two corrective surgieries. (good news, in total remission with medications!)
Somehow, I still have not got my head back into photobooks, publishing as well as self-publishing my own work. I have started writing a few photo book reviews and actually working with a not-profit organization, used my printing and book publishing connections to help them publish a couple of exhibition catalogs under the Singular Images Press name.
In retrospect, I stopped posting anything on my singularimagespress IG account since November 2022 as well. And I am not sure I will going forward, so I have decided it’s time to eliminate that IG account and start reducing my META social media footprint. To say the least, I am not a big fan of the META antics and I guess I should have made this decision a few years ago. As they say, better late than never.
This morning I deleted all of my posts except 3 on this IG (so that I would have a nice screen shot to publish this article) and next will be to delete the account entirely later today.
Oh yeah, I still have a few copies of this artist book if you are interested. My initial printing production for the core book was over 200, while I needed to assemble & saddle-sew the additional pages to complete the book, I have stalled at a count of 100. Again, I just cannot get my head into finishing this books production. sigh.
Cheers,
Doug
Btw, too funny, but my first impulse about why and what I was doing is to post this News on my art IG account. Not!
