I am going to be one of four jurors selected for the first International Mute Photo Festival, which will include an exhibition and a catalog. The other jurors include Ioli Taznetaki (@iolitzan), Apostolis Giannokopoulous (@giannakopoulosap ) and Shuchi Kapoor (@girlinthegalli).
What makes this opportunity very interesting is that this might be considered an alternative photo exhibition as the exclusive photographic medium requirement is that the print submissions are required to be made by thermal printer “toy” cameras (thermal activated paper, not film), also known as “krappy kameras”. The black-and-white, low-resolution thermal prints strip away color distraction, highlighting form, texture, light, and the acceptance of imperfection.
I now have one of these relatively inexpensive kameras, so more about using it in another update post.
