The Photo Book

While trying to resolve some editorial issues for the other on-line journal I write, The Photo Exhibit, I decided to break out and start another on-line journal about photography books, called The Photo Book,

Not much there yet, but over the next week, I will start exporting all of my writings about photographic books over to that site. Thus my discussion of the Robert Frank – Paris book that I picked up in Philadelphia will have to wait just a little longer, but that is where my thoughts on this book will go.

So why another on-line journal, as if I do not have enough to do, eh? More about where I want to keep these thoughts and ideas from my personal projects and series. Thus if something about book publishing comes up that is of interest, that is probably the better place for it to land, such as the recent (September 2008) issue of PDN is about Photographic books. So that just seems like a better place to discuss it.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, after a week in Philadephia, and now looking at my Re:Development series, I realize that I have a number of images to tweak, both image adjustments as well as image pairings. Just not everything, but enough, such that I will need to also tweak my web site again to adjust for the changes. Also considering a submission to Critical Mass 2008 for this project.

Best regards, Doug

  1. Oh, dear, now I have another stop to make. Seriously, this does seem to be a logical arrangement of your thought-provoking posts. I look forward to following you at the additional address.

  2. Anita, I did agonize over this decision, but I keep coming back to the fact that I want to keep this part of my writings focused on what I am doing as a photographer and not be distracted by other ideas and stuff that I find myself wanting to write about.

If it does not work out, then I can always reconsolidate my writings. But in the meantime, I will try this out;- )
