Frick Fine Arts Library – permanent collection

Earlier I had announced that a limited edition Fiuggi Book + Print of Ciociaria was acquired by the Frick Fine Arts Library at the University of Pittsburgh and I now very excited to announce that four of my books are now in their permanent collection. In addition to the Ciociaria book are my three artist books: Pine Lake, Bluewater Shore and Middle Ground. So how cool is that?

I will admit that after I published Pine Lake, a semi-fictional story about a guys fishing trip using (family) vernacular photographs to create a fishing story that I never heard, I have had my eye on the Frick Fine Arts Library at the University of Pittsburgh. Both my dad (BS Chemistry) and my grandfather (DDS) graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and I always thought it would be really nice to have my books that feature them in this permanent collection. Thus as the Pine Lake edition sold out, I reserved one copy for this library, which took me a little longer to make the necessary connections than I had anticipated. The good news is that another artist book Bluewater Shore, which is also based in Pennsylvania, was available as well which I think really captured the librarians interest. Done!

So in addition to the Frick Fine Arts Library, my books are now in collections with Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma (MACRO), Rome, Italy, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University, Boston, MA, the Franklin Furnace Archive, Brooklyn, NY, the School of Visual Arts Library (SVA), NYC, and Reminders Photography Stronghold, (RPS) Tokyo, Japan. I am really honored to be in the permanent collections of these great institutions.

There are still copies of Bluewater Shore, Middle Ground, the trade edition of Ciociaria as well as the Fiuggi Book + Print edition of Ciociaria available, message me for prices (free shipping within the US). Pine Lake has been sold out for some time now, as has the Morolo Book + Print edition of Ciociaria.

Cheers,

Doug
