This week Medium Photo Festival is resuming an in-person event, their first since the shut down by the COVID Pandemic. I will be attending Saturday, May 7th, for the various lectures and book signings. As well as I will carrying my book-dummy for The Flow of Light Brushes the Shadow which will be published by Singular Image Press this Fall. This is going to be a nice opportunity to meet up with friends and show them this ‘final’ book dummy.
And of course, letting everyone know about about the pre-publication sale, that includes an opportunity to being listed in the Acknowledgments page. I will take orders for the artist book, pre-publication price of $50.00, and the Artist Special Edition, pre-publication price of $100, which is a numbered and signed edition that includes a loose archival pigment print.
I think another Kickstarter-like option will be offered as well; 5 buck HUGS. Just the thing for those who want to help push me over the finish line for this artist book who cannot afford this artist book. For a 5 buck HUG your name will also be printed in the book’s acknowledgments. Nice, eh? When thinking about which image to promote from my artist book for this post, I decided that my abstract airport terminal transit photography, above, might be the best fit. Even if I am not flying to San Diego but driving the hour and half south from Orange County. I know that this will be a relatively quick drive. Thus, I do not anticipate that my anxieties will be acting up. Likewise, when I arrive at Medium, I will have some of my editorial team for PhotoBook Journal there as well as large bunch of photographic friends from the greater Southern California area. So this attending this event will be more like joining my extended family, which again, this realization this will keep my anxiety in check.
If you are going to in San Diego at Medium this Saturday, let me know and then look for me. I will be very excited and happy to show you my book-dummy. Oh, I will be the guy with a gray pony tail, mustache and chin-stash, probably wearing a crazy Hawaiian shirt. Likewise, show me your book dummy or recently published photobook, we might be interested in featuring it on PhotoBook Journal (and then I can have PBJ pay for the gas as a publishing expense!)
