China cyanotype series, copyright 2008/2024 Douglas Stockdale
I am really honored that Issue #46 of The Hand magazine (Fall 2024) provided me with a full page feature of my China cyanotype series. My cyanotypes had been featured twice before in The Hand, while either singular images or as a pair. So a full page feature is a really nice validation of my cyanotype printing.
The digital China photographs were made during three trips to various parts of China as part of a technology transfer assignment I was supporting. This set of five images were during the last trip in the beginning of 2008 during which there was a snow storm that blanketed this urban landscape, which made this terrain appear a lot more interesting. Then a matter of choosing which images to cyanotype print.
Printing the center cyanotype, above and below, created an interest in creating a five print set to submit to The Hand. The center urban China landscape cyanotype was concurrently exhibited in the Photographers Exchange 2024 Annual Members exhibition at the OC Camera Gallery and included in the exhibition catalog.
On my to-do list is to submit this urban landscape print to YourDailyPhotograph for sale (or if interested, contact me). This print version is 9 x 12″, although I have since figured out a process to make an 11 x 14″ print. I suppose I ought to make and print one at the size first.
Make every day an Earth Day
Cheers!
