The Eye of Photography – L’Oeil de la Photographie

Always a wonderful way to start the morning when you find that you are being featured in a (virtual) photo magazine, which in my case, is The Eye of Photography (L’Oeil de la Photographie) published in France, for my series of book readers observed reading while hanging out at the beach (IG @beach.lifestyle.art). What a great way to start 2023, eh?

When you wake up thinking about what’s on the day’s to-do list, open the email and realize that the best made plans of man sometimes go astray. So this morning was about sharing this wonderful occasion on my social media (Instagram, Facebook & of course, here). I had submitted this portfolio to Eye of Photography this summer for their open call for photographs related to Summer. But then nothing appeared on their site. Until today, thus, another lesson in patience!

Meanwhile, I have continued to photograph book readers when ever I am on the beach working on my other projects. When I did not get a response from Eye of Photography, I then had second doubts about this series and decided to lump these photographs into a larger body of work and renamed my Instagram site according (now IG @beach.lifestyle.art), while setting up a collection of these photographs under IG #beachsidebookreaders. Hopefully, a win-win.

This small body of work also means I might need to reconsider if I am a ‘street photographer’ who haunts the beach community. LoL. It’s that I don’t think of myself as a street photographer, so even if this might look something like what street photographers might photograph, please don’t call me a street photographer, okay?

Good, now back to the business of the day as I still have a few more of my artist books to print, assemble and bind.
